Career
Eric La Fleur was born in Ville Platte,
Louisiana. He lives there with his wife, Julie, who works for Cardiology Center
of Lafayette, Inc. LaFleur is a partner in the law firm of Mahtook & La Fleur.
The firm consists of 16 attorneys with offices in Ville Platte, Lafayette, and
Houston, Texas.. He is graduate of LSU and Tulane, earning a B.A. in French,
Economics and History. He earned his law degree from Tulane Law School. His
legal practice is focused primarily on transactional work: residential and
commercial finance. He is a "red book" listed bond attorney and does work in
public finance: bond issuances, tax elections, bond financing for villages,
towns, cities, school boards, industrial development boards and other private
economic development projects.
Before entering private civil practice, La Fleur
served as a felony prosecutor under District Attorney Harry Connick in New
Orleans and for the Louisiana Department of Justice under Richard Leyoub. He has
handled in excess of 1,000 felony prosecutions and has tried over 50 jury fifty
felony jury trials.
Family
A Roman Catholic, Eric La Fleur is happily
married to Julie Morein La Fleur with two children, Atticus and Amelie.
