Sen. Marionneaux Named Chairman of Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee

  BATON ROUGE, LA- District 17 State Senator Robert Marionneaux, Jr., (D-Livonia), will be appointed by Senate President-elect Joel Chaisson II, (D-Destrehan), to Chair the powerful Senate Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee, which handle's the state's revenue, tax laws and capital outlay legislation.

  Sen. Marionneaux will also continue to serve on the Judiciary B, which he chaired last term. He will also serve on the Commerce Committee which oversees all banking legislation and the Labor and Industrial Relations committees.

  Sen. Marionneaux said, "I am honored to be chosen as the Chairman of the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee, and I will continue to work towards moving Louisiana forward. As chair of the tax writing committee I hope that we can balance the needs of everyday hard working citizens and those of business and industry."

  Sen. Marionneaux is currently the Chairman of the Judiciary B Committee, which deals with gaming, juveniles and oversees the Department of Corrections. He will take over as the Chairman of the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee and the new committee assignments when the new term begins on January 14, 2008.
