SENATOR DONAHUE READY TO TACKLE ISSUES FACING THE 2008-2012 LOUISIANA STATE SENATE TAKES OATH OF OFFICE TO SERVE CITIZENS IN SENATE DISTRICT 11
John Donahue, Jr. is officially the State Senator for Senate District 11. Senator Donahue (R-Covington) took the oath of office as a member of the 2008-2012 Louisiana State Senate during special inauguration ceremonies in the Senate Chamber at the State Capitol on Monday, January 14th. Citizens in District 11, which includes parts of St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes, chose Senator Donahue to represent them in the State Senate last fall. "I'm very honored to be here today," said Senator Donahue. "It's a great privilege to have the faith and trust of the people of my district. I think one of the most important issues for this state is the business climate. We can solve many of our problems such as good paying jobs for our kids by offering the kind of tax incentives that will encourage Louisiana's businesses to grow and businesses from other places to relocate to Louisiana. I'm excited to get to work and see a bright future for this state." Senator Donahue is a civil engineer and business owner. He is a former Chair of the Causeway Commission and the Louisiana Association of Business & Industry. He also served as Chair of the Associated Builders and Contractors and is a member of the American Society of Engineers. Senator Donahue is committed to fiscal and ethics reform by eliminating unnecessary spending and creating transparency in state government. In the Senate, he will serve as Vice-Chair of the Judiciary A Committee and as a member of the Finance, Senate & Governmental Affairs, and Education committees and the Select Greater New Orleans Expressway Committee. Senator Donahue is a graduate of Louisiana State University and Tulane University. He and his wife Maura have a blended family of six children. -30- |
