BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal
announced appointments to the Louisiana International
Deep Water Gulf Transfer Terminal Authority.
The Louisiana
International Deep Water Gulf Transfer Terminal
Authority strives to position Louisiana as an
international hub for cargo ships by promoting,
planning, financing, developing, constructing,
operating, maintaining, and modifying deep water
terminal and intermodal facilities to be constructed in
Plaquemines Parish.
According to the
statute, the authority is comprised of twelve members,
including the secretary of the Department of Economic
Development, the secretary of the Department of
Transportation and Development, the chairmen of the
House of Representatives and Senate Committees on
Transportation, Highways and Public Works or their
designees. The remaining eight commissioners are the
following gubernatorial appointments:

One member selected
from nominations submitted by the Ports
Association of Louisiana;

One member selected
from nominations submitted by the Louisiana
Association of Business and Industry;

One member selected
from nominations submitted by the Steamship
Association of Louisiana;
-
One member selected
from nominations submitted by the Louisiana
River Pilots Association;
-
One member selected
from nominations submitted by the president of
the Louisiana State Senate;
-
One member selected
from nominations submitted by the speaker of the
Louisiana House of Representatives;
-
One member appointed
by the American Federation of Labor-Congress of
Industrial Organizations; and
-
One member at large.
Appointments to the Louisiana International Deep Water
Gulf Transfer Terminal Authority:
Sen. John
Alario, of Westwego, is a State Senator
representing the 8th district. Alario is the chair of
the Senate Committee on Transportation, Highways and
Public Works’ designee, and will serve on the board as
required by statute.
Bill
Ankner, of Baton Rouge, is the secretary of the
Department of Transportation and Development. Ankner
will serve on the board as an ex-officio member, as
required by statute.
Sen. A.G.
Crowe, of Slidell, is a State Senator
representing the 1st District. Crowe was nominated by
the president of the Senate, as required by statute.
Sean
Duffy, of Metairie, is the president and CEO of
Gulf States Maritime Association. Duffy was nominated by
the Steamship Association of Louisiana, as required by
statute.
Rep. Nita
Hutter, of Chalmette, is chair of the House of
Representatives Committee on Transportation, Highways
and Public Works, and will serve as an ex-officio
member, as required by statute.
John
Hyatt, of New Orleans, is the vice president of
the Irwin Brown Company, a freight forwarder. Hyatt was
nominated by the Louisiana Association of Business and
Industry, as required by statute.
Gary
LaGrange, of New Orleans, is the port president
and CEO of the Port of New Orleans. LaGrange was
nominated by the Ports Association of Louisiana, as
required by statute.
Capt.
Michael Lorino, of Mandeville, is the president
of the Associated Branch Pilots of the Port of New
Orleans and has over 25 years of experience as a river
pilot. Lorino was nominated by the Louisiana River
Pilots Association, as required by statute.
Stephen
Moret, of Baton Rouge, is the secretary of the
Department of Economic Development. Moret will serve as
an ex-officio member, as required by statute.
Tracy
Rosser, of Mandeville, is the vice president of
Corporate Traffic for Walmart Stores, Inc. Rosser will
serve as an at-large member, as required by statute.
Rep. Jim
Tucker, of Algiers, is the speaker of the House
of Representatives, and will serve on the board as
required by statute.
