SEN. A.G. CROWE READY TO ADDRESS IMPORTANT ISSUES FACING THE 2008-2012 LOUISIANA STATE SENATE TAKES OATH OF OFFICE TO SERVICE A.G. Crowe is officially the new State Senator for Senate District 1. Senator Crowe (R-Slidell) took the oath of office as a member of the 2004-2008 Louisiana State Senate during special inaugural ceremonies in the Senate Chamber at the State Capitol on Monday, January 14th. Citizens in District 1, which includes all of St. Bernard Parish and parts of St. Tammany, Plaquemines and Orleans parishes, chose Senator Crowe to represent them in the State Senate last fall. "It's a great honor to be here to serve the people of my district," said Senator Crowe. "I'm most excited about the opportunity to end this casual relationship with the Mississippi River and reestablish Louisiana as the gateway to America by opening the first deep water port in the United States, the Louisiana Gulf Transfer Terminal. Besides the huge economic impact by positioning Louisiana for the global market, this concept will easily tie in to coastal restoration initiatives, re-claiming of our wetlands and provide much-needed hurricane protection." Senator Crowe says economic development, commerce, education and fighting crime are also some of his most important legislative priorities. In the senate, he will serve as Vice-Chair of the Commerce Committee, Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Technology and Science, and as a member of the Retirement, Local & Municipal Affairs, and Judiciary C committees and the Select Committee on Oversight of the Greater New Orleans Expressway. Senator Crowe previously served two terms in the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 76, where he won numerous awards for his leadership. Senator Crowe is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and a long-time business owner and civic leader. He and his wife Linda have two children and five grandchildren. -30- |
