SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 SENATE TO HOLD SPECIAL MEETING The Louisiana State Senate will meet Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11:00 am to consider the election of a nominee to the Louisiana Board of Ethics. The State Constitution and Senate rules provide for such administrative meetings called by the Senate President. State law requires that the Senate elect two members to the Board of Ethics from a list of nominees submitted by the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. There is currently one Senate vacancy on the board. The Senate Committee on Senate and Governmental Affairs met today to review the nominees. The committee's recommendations will be reported to the Senate for consideration, allowing for the election of the new ethics board member prior to the first meeting of the new Louisiana Board of Ethics in early October. Besides the consideration of the ethics board vacancy, the only other matters that can be considered at the special meeting of the Senate are other administrative matters relating to Senate operations and matters of a general informational nature. The special Senate meeting is being held on a day when a number of Senators are scheduled to be at the State Capitol for several interim committee meetings. For additional information, please contact the Senate Communication Office at 225-342-9737.
