The Select Committee for Oversight of the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission was recreated to continue a study of the use of the Causeway as a major means of ingress and egress from the Orleans-Jefferson area to the rapidly-growing North shore and to ensure the citizens in the area the safest, most economical and technologically modern transportation system between the North and South shores of Lake Ponchatrain.
